Shamrocks & Dragons Gala Dinner

20th APRIL 2017
Middle Temple, London

This exclusive Black Tie event was the first joint venture with the Irish Guards Benevolent Fund and it is fair to say that it was a huge success. Celebrities support for our troops was tremendous…Craig Fairbrass, Gary Cockerill and Phil Turner were there along with Collabro (all four of them) and Lance Corporal Richard Jones…both of Britain’s Got Talent fame. Tina Hobley, Lizzie Cundy, Nancy Sorrell, Linda Robson and Andrea McLean all added their special brand of glamour to the event.

The venue was wonderful…the entertainment more so, because guests were treated to a spectacular musical display by the Regimental Band of the Irish Guards, Drums and Pipes which took place on the manicured lawns of Middle Temple as the weather had been very kind and stayed warm and clear throughout.

Irish dancing by two young ladies from the McGahan Lees Irish Dance Academy preceded the meal, and afterwards the entertainment continued with a lively bout of Slam Dunk hosted by Nick Knowles who then headed up the Auction, co-hosted by Andrea McClean of Loose Women fame…who also is Patron of Back on Track.

The auction bids came thick and fast, with every one of them achieving high pricesnone more so than the unique presentation of signed photos of the three living British Army VC holders, Beharry, Leaky and Speakman with replica medals. This was presented in person by Sergeant Johnson Beharry VC who was our Special Guest for the evening.

Finally, the evening was rounded off with a rousing displayb y the Pipes & Drums of the Irish Guards accompanied by renowned Irish Fiddle player Cormac Duffin.

It was a brilliant, foot-stamping end to a wonderful night which celebrated St. George’s Day…with an Irish twist!
